Preface

Xmgf is a motif based 3D Object viewer for displaying principally gf format scene descriptions and 3D primitives, but also a variety of CAD file formats OFF/NFF/DXF/OBJ/SLA/MINICAD/IGRIP. Xmgf was designed to provide users with a simple method of viewing 3D data it was intended to be simple to learn, easy to use and full of nice features.

Xmgf evolved during 1992/93/94 and was written at the University of Surrey by Paul Hoad. Much of the encouragement of this tool came from Graeme Jones. The main Xmgf idea evolved from xgf a 2D image primitive viewer written in Athena by G.Matas and A.Tai of the University of Surrey in 1991.

I wish to thank the many people who have made contributions to the development of Xmgf or allowed me to release snippets of their code with Xmgf.
